Behind the Scenes: The Art of Visual Merchandising at MPorium

At the heart of MPorium’s immersive retail experience is the Visual Merchandising team—an innovative group of creatives dedicated to transforming the store each semester. Their expertise goes beyond aesthetics; they conceptualize seasonal themes, curate mood boards, select color palettes, and source props to bring their vision to life. The result? A complete store transformation that captivates shoppers and creates a dynamic, engaging atmosphere.

Collaboration is key to ensuring a cohesive brand experience. The Visual Merchandising team works closely with marketing, buying, and e-commerce teams to seamlessly integrate their theme across all aspects of MPorium. From in-store displays to digital touchpoints, every detail aligns to enhance the overall shopping experience

Sourcing unique props and fixtures is an essential part of the process. “Lately, we’ve loved exploring thrift and antique stores for distinctive props that bring our vision to life,” shares Grace Kolker, Student Director of Visual Merchandising. Additionally, the team turns to retailers like Amazon and Michael’s for key decorative elements. Beyond traditional sources, they have even collaborated with the Marist archive, incorporating historic imagery that evokes nostalgia and resonates with students, alumni, and the greater Marist community.

As for their favorite products this season? The Visual Merchandising team highlights the Basketball Frankie Mesh Jersey, the Script Marist "M" Necklace, and Bon Bon Candies—fan favorites that perfectly embody the MPorium spirit!

From concept to execution, the Visual Merchandising team continues to redefine retail storytelling, ensuring every MPorium visit is an inspiring and memorable experience.
